Elections Commission has said that a case concerning voter registry has been submitted to High Court.

Speaking to the press, Chairman of Elections Commission Ahmed Shareef said that the seven cases submitted to High Court have to do with voter registry.

Shareef said that these cases had to do with the individuals not having registered as voters by the deadline set by the Commission.

He added that the High Court has summoned the Elections Commission to answer regarding the case at 1:00 pm today.

The Chairperson of EC added that while the final voters list was released on 19 March, the opportunity to submit administrative complaints regarding the list was opened. He said that as such, the Commission has received approximately 352 complaints.

Ahmed Shareef said that the complaints include 281 cases concerning the constituency, 9 cases involving people that have passed away, 21 cases of address changes as well as 36 cases concerning registration and five cases of name-change.
