Former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has said that this administration has done nothing but chase after people as of now.

President Yameen said this while speaking on the phone with constituents of current MP and Parliamentary hopeful for Madaveli constituency, Muaz Rasheed yesterday. He said that while the current government is not competent, there are attempts to cover this up through supporting the assembling several unlawful commissions.

He said that he expects a severe blowback on his comments that the current government has accomplished no major feats within the past five months of the administration. President Yameen also reiterated that Maldives has descended to the level it is at now, due to the actions of political leaders that were taken without taking the people into consideration.

He added that Maldivians are not a people that can be kept in chains and said that Maldivians do not wish to be anyone's slave.

President Yameen said that with his detention and the freezing of funds owed to the party, there have been major challenges in Parliamentary campaign efforts. He also urged all people involved to direct efforts towards selecting Muaz Rasheed for a second term, to the Madaveli constituency.
