Maldives Police Service has arrested eight foreign nationals arrested with large amounts of liquor.

Police said that the arrest took place after the Drug Enforcement Unit had received news that many who produce and use liquor were residing at a house in Machchangoalhi. It has been reported by MPS that the perpetrators were then arrested under a special operation and taken into Police custody.

Police found 888 plastic bottles of 500 millileters in size as well as six, five-liter plastic bottles containing a sticky substance and 14 containers suspected to contain liquor.  

It was reported by MPS that the arrests made included individuals with ages ranging from 21 years to 31 years old.

Police have informed that the Drug Enforcement Unit is investigating the matter.
