A decision has been made to reduce the quarantine period to ten days for those who are testing positive for COVID-19 after their vaccination had been completed.
Other countries have also given eases in quarantine for those who have completed the vaccine courses.
Speaking at the Health Ministry press conference this morning, Spokesperson of the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC), Dr. Fathimath Nazla Rafeeq said that similar ease in quarantine for those with two courses of the vaccine will be given in the Maldives as well; hence shortening the quarantine period.
She said that if a person with the full course of vaccines test positive, they are required to quarantine for ten days and if there are no symptoms, would be released without testing. And the direct contacts of those testing positive will be quarantined for five days and release with a negative PCR test.
While quarantine periods have been shortened for those who were vaccinated, there are no ease for those who have not been vaccinated.
Dr. Nazla said that if an unvaccinated person tests positive, they would be quarantined for 14 days and would be released with a negative PCR test.
