Ministry of Health has announced that a program to I've COVID-19 booster vaccine to the general public will be starting this month.

The booster dose is currently being given only to those above the age of 50. A similar program to give booster doses to the public was set to start in December 2021 but was stifled due to a syringe shortage.

Speaking at th Health Ministry press conference this morning, State Minister, Dr. Shah Maahiru said that that preparations are under way to give the vaccine to the eligible population in the country. And the required vaccine doses for the program has been acquired as well.

The US has donated 100,620 doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to the Maldives under the COVAX Facility.

So far, 80 percent of the local population has received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.
