Maldives High Court has gone to recess.

According to the Judiciary Act, the High Court goes to recess from theast working day of the last week of November every year to the first of the following year.

During this recess period, no hearings would be held but the clerical sections will be working including taking in new cases and other administrative work will continue.

Yesterday, the Supreme Concluded the biggest case of the year and went to recess as well.

If a judge is needed during the recess period, hearings can be held and the cases that require to be concluded by a certain date will be holding hearings as usual along with the fast-tracked cases and verdict and sentencing hearing.

Only one case was scheduled at the High Court is a loan case involving a pawn.

The Supreme Court completed the case by the former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom appealing the Criminal Court verdict and sentence of five years supported by the High Court.

Their second case was a an unlawful termination suite against the Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).
