Male' City Council is set to appeal at the Maldives High Court following the ruling from the Civil Court to delay the implementation of the Male' City Council's cancellation of the Hulhumale' Registry.
The City Council cancelled the registry on 8 December 2021 and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) filed suit at the Civil Court the following day claiming it was an unlawful decision and requested a stay on the implementation.
Civil Court issued an order on 16 December stating that the lands of Hulhumale' Phase 1 and Phase 2 are registered to HDC and the registry of the two lands make it clear. And so, the Male' City Council was ordered to delay acting on the cancelled registry and all state institutes were ordered not to act on any implementation of the Council decision.
Spokesperson of the Male' City Council, Mariyam Shiuna told ONE Online today that the temporary order from the Civil Court would be appealed at the High Court this week following a decision by the legal team of the City Council.
