Land reclamation completed for Centara New Resorts, a landmark project for MTCC

A special ceremony was held yesterday to mark the completion handover of the project, “Centara New Resorts

Maldives: Reclamation of Three Different Islands".

The handover was carried by the Minister of National Planning, Housing, and Infrastructure, Mohamed Aslam and the CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim at the ceremony attended by the Minister of State for

National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Akram Kamaludheen, Minister of

State for National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure, Shifaz Ali and the Area General

Manager of Centara Grand Island and Centara Ras Fushi, Prapaijit Thongma along with senior officials of MTCC.

Scope of works for this landmark project for MTCC included reclamation of three artificial islands at Vattafaru. Each of these islands with an area of seven hectares.

The “Centara New Resorts Maldives: Reclamation of Three Different Islands” project was contracted to MTCC by Lagoon Assets Pvt Ltd on 8 October 2019. The project is valued at USD 26.29 million and was completed on 24 November 2021.

Speaking at the ceremony, the CEO of MTCC said that since its inception, MTCC has trying to complete projects around the country as best as possible and the past three years reflect that. He said that since the company was formed, 64 projects have been completed with another 63 projects currently underway.

Minister Alsam also spoke at the ceremony stating that the MTCC completed the Centara Three Island Project to perfection.

MTCC said that the completion of “Centara New Resorts Maldives: Reclamation of Three Different Islands” is a

milestone in the 40 year long history of MTCC as it is the most extensive international project

in value.
