A special workshop is underway to train people to a gender sensitive media environment in the Maldives.
Held by the Addu Women's Association and the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services, the workshop aims to create equality in digital media, film and entertainment.
The five-day workshop began in Male' yesterday with 33 participants; all Maldivians, including government employees in communication and media departments.
Trainers for the workshop were trained in October by UNESCO funded by the International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC).
They are the Chairperson of ONE Media Group, Minha Faiz Rashad, Founder of AO News, Shimal Ahmed, Treasurer of West Australian Maldivian Association, Moosa Rayyan Shahid and the Public Relations expert, Shaufa Hussain.
The workshop also has three Indian Professors, Ambrish Saksena, Jaishry Jethuvaney and Seema Goyal as additional trainers.
A similar workshop is set to be held in Addu early next year.
