CEO of the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Adam Azim has said that the airport being developed at Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll Faresmaathodaa will be completed within the first two months of next year.

Speaking on Raajje TV's "Falasurukhee" program last night, CEO Azim said that the ground works of the Faresmaathodaa airport project has now been completed. And so the sub-base and sub-grade of the runway, taxiway, apron, fire pad and fire road has all been finished.

He said that all the work of the airport will be completed next year in January or February.

Azim said that they initially aimed to complete the project this year but there were challenges in importing some things from abroad due the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faresmaathodaa Airport Development Project was contracted to MTCC in November 2020 on design and build basis for MVR 144.8 million.
