A case of sexual assault on a child inside a taxi has surfaced.

Media Official of the Maldives Police Service said said a sexual assault on a 16-year-old girl inside a taxi was reported last night.

No arrests have been made regarding the case, according to the Police, but an investigation is currently underway.

While taxis are supposed to create a safe environment for passengers, there have been reports of harassment of female passengers from time to time.
