Maldivian surfer, Ali Khushwaan Mohamed (Kuda ayya) won first place, while Ali Javid (Jaattey) has won second place in Malaysia’s Rip Curl Tioman Surf Festival.

The Surf Festival, held with a collaboration between Rip Curl Malaysia and Tioman Cabana held various sporting activities.

While various Maldivian surfers took part in the festival and independent participants, the festival had a total of 35 participants. Singapore nationals as well as Maldivian nationals also took part on the event.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih recognized the win for the Maldives surfers and tweeted a congratulatory message. The President noted that he was proud to see this win by Maldivian surfers in an international stage.

While the festival has been held for the past eight years, the aim of the festival has been to generate awareness of environmental issues.
