President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena, has said that Sri Lanka is like the homeland for manu Maldivians.
President Sirisena said this during the ongoing visit of Maldivian ambassador to Sri lanka Umar Abdul Razzaq. The Ambassador presented himself in Sri lanka at the handing over of his documents of Ambassadorship ceremony to the President. The ceremony, took place at the President’s residence on the morning of 20 January 2019.
President Sirisenahas conveyed his congratulations to the Ambassador Abdul Razzaq. The President said that he hopes that the Ambassador would attempt to further strengthen the age long friendship between Sri lanka and Maldives.
President Sirisena also noted the significance of Maldives and Sri lanka strengthening ties, especially in the area of investment. The President requested the Ambassador to ensure efforts are made in this area. In addition, President Sirisenahas noted that closeness between the two nations and said that Sri lanka is like a homeland for many Maldivians.
The Maldivian Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Umar Abdul Razzaq has assured of further efforts to strengthen ties between both nations.
