National airline, Maldivian, has decided to hold a number of special flight to Dakha, Bangladesh, around the Eid holidays.

The airline announced on Twitter this morning that the special flights to Dakha for Eid will be held on 21 and 23 July 2021.

The Eid al-Alha this year falls on 20 July.

Regarding the special flights, the Manager of Public Relations and Communications at Maldivian, Moosa Waseem told One Online that many had been unable to travel to the South Asian countries as the borders were closed due to the severity of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with travel now being open, many want to travel and are requesting more flights.

He said that the these flights are being held upon the request of many people. A return ticket to Dakha via Maldivian is MVR 6,736.

The government has a special project underway to facilitate Bangladeshi expatriates who wants to go back to their country.
