Island Aviation Services Limited has announced that they will be starting flights to Colombo International Airport Ratmalana, Sri Lanka.

Parent company of Maldivian Aero, Island Aviation said that they took part in the negotiations when the Ratmalana Airport was opened to the South Asian countries. And so, Maldivian Aero is set to start flight operations to Ratmalana on 27 of March, Sunday.

Maldivian has also scheduled flights on the subsequent Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday as well.

Ratmalana Airport is the first international airport of Sri Lanka and is also the closest airport to the Maldives.

The airport was decommissioned in 1968 and was being used to park private planes and domestic flights.
