Residents in Greater Male' Region will no longer require passes during non-curfew hours, as Maldives lifts strict Covid-19 restrictions.
The announcement was made during a press conference by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Health Minister Ahmed Naseem. President Solih said that the government has decided on easing the strict restrictions in Male' area as the covid numbers have seen a significant decrease.
As such he said that starting this Thursday, residents will no longer require passes while going out during non-curfew hours. Current restrictions issue two passes per household. Each pass is active for one of the time periods from 8:00am to 12:00pm and 12;00pm to 6:00pm.
The pass is only usable by the person that it is issued to by Police. It is not usable during curfew hours, nor would one be able to travel to Hulhumale' with the pass.
However, with the ease of restrictions, you no longer need a pass to travel to Hulhumale.
In addition to this, curfew hours have been reduced with the new curfew starting at 8:00pm. A pass is also no longer required to go outside during non-curfew hours.
