Vice President Faisal Naseem has said that India is an integral ally of progress in Maldives.

The Vice President was the guest of honor at an event held in celebration of India's 70th Republic Day. VP Naseem spoke at the event and said that the ties between India and Maldives are further than that of two nations in bilateral relations and that the bond is a closer one.

Vice President Faisal Naseem said that the ties are built on shared history and experiences of the two nations. He highlighted that the bond was formed through age old shared traditions and similar ways of recognizing what each nation does.

The VP noted shared aspirations of both nations and said that the constitutions of both nations also share a similar nature. He said that the constitutions of Maldives and India seek to maintain the people’s rights and freedoms as well as establish democratic societies. He further added in his speech that the constitutions also seek to ensure that the fabric of society does not unravel.

VP Naseem noted that India has come to the aid of Maldives whenever the occasion called for it and said that India has been a generous and helpful friend to Maldives.

The Vice President highlighted that the close ties maintained by India with Maldives will not be forgotten. He noted that Maldives, and especially the current administration truly appreciate any and every effort taken by India to strengthen ties.
