Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Reeko Moosa Manik has said that he does not believe that a failure by intelligence led to the attack targeted on the former President and Speaker of Parliament, Mohamed Nasheed.

Security forces have previously said that they did not receive any prior intelligence reports of the attack.

Speaking on Sangu TV's "Khabarah Fahu" program last night, Moosa said that he does not believe that the intelligence services failed in recognising the attack but do believe that the entire country has failed.

He said that a specific person cannot be blamed for negligence in regards to the attack.

Condemning the bombing, Moosa said that he believes that high risk people such as the former President needs to be better protected.
