Reeko Moosa Manik has said that a resolution was passed by the MDP's National Congress to go be another term of Presidency to a candidate who completesone term of Presidency on the party's ticket.

Speaking on One Media's One to One program last night, the Former Chairperson and key figure in the inception of the political party MDP, said that the way for the party to win the next election is with President Solih.

Although a path to that exists within the party, Moosa noted that obstructions are being made against it and accused the President of MDP and the current Speaker of the Parliament, Former President of the Maldives, Mohamed Nasheed of being behind it.

"President Nasheed cannot openly say the National Congress that primaries need to be held. MDP has set a regulation. In 2013, a resolution was passed to give the current President a chance for a second term." Moosa said.

He said that the Congress had previously decided that if the party brings forth someone other than President Solih, MDP loses that chance to win the election.

The former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Moosa, said that President Solih has a high chance if winning the election for MDP.

Moosa said that despite being close friends, President Solih and former President Nasheed disagree on governing system. He said that President Solih would not sacrifice his presidency.

He noted that if it goes to that point, President Solih would take the MDP's voter-base and the majority of the National Congress while the majority of the Parliamentary Group would support President Solih as well.
