Former Chairperson of MDP and former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Reeko Moosa Manik has said that President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih would not allow for the government to be toppled with a coup d'etat and that chance will not be given even if it was the former President Mohamed Nasheed.

A tweet sent out by Reeko Moosa with a handwritten letter to the former President said that President Nasheed is being tied up in trap of wanting power and efforts to overthrow the government and imprison President Solih as the coup during the Nasheed Presidency cannot be allowed.

Moosa said that MDP has been brought to the level it is now through the efforts of many and it would be allowed to be thrown away for the benefits of one person.

He said that no matter the amount of taunts calling the party "anti-religious", their faith would not weaken.

Reeko Moosa has sent a letter to President Nasheed after the former President has said that it would be difficult to support the government if the amendment to the penal code by the MP for Thulhaadhoo constituency is not supported by the MDP leadership.
