Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mohamed Riyaz has said that they do not believe military grade explosives were used in the attack on the Speaker of the Parliament, former President Mohamed Nasheed, last night.
Speaking at the Police press conference today, ACP Mohamed Riyaz said that the explosives used to attack the Speaker of Parliament had added shrapnel to cause more damage.
He said that the analysis of the device so far does not lead to believe that it was a military grade explosive basedmon it's components.
But the ACP did not that additional pieces were included in the device to cause more harm.
ACP Riyaz said that this is the "Golden Hours" of the attack and suspicious behaviour was noticed on four individuals at the time of the attack. However, no further information can be provided on the matter at this time.
