Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services and the Human Rights Commission of the Maldives and the Children's Ombudsperson, Niumath Shafeeq have been summoned to the Parliament Committee on Human Rights and Gender.

They were summoned today regarding the case submitted to the Parliament stating that the orphanage under state care is not a safe and suitable institute for children.

While the HRCM has raised issues with the orphanage in the past, the Children's Ombudsperson, Niumath Shafeeq too has recently raise concerns regarding the orphanage.
