Maldives Police Service has launched an investigation into the allegations of sexual abuse of a female student in Gaafu Alifu Gemanafushi School by a teacher at the school.

Police said that the sexual assault on an underage girl was reported to the Upper South Division at 10:06 a.m. yesterday. While the investigation is underway, police said that no arrests have been made in the case so far.

Sources say that this case is that of a sexual abuse case involving a Genamafushi student and by a teacher.

The Gemanafushi School is also looking into the case and the Education Ministry has not made any official comments regarding the case. And it is unclear whether any action have been taken.

Some people from the island have also reached out to One Online stating that these are baseless allegations to damage the reputation of a person. However, the Gemenafushi School has confirmed that a sexual abuse allegation is being looked into by the school. And no official authority have said that this is a baseless allegation.
