Maldives Police Service has conducted searches at four buildings in Male’ City and four men and a woman have been arrested with illegal drugs.

Police said that they searched a house in Galolhu, a house in Mahchangolhi, a house in Maafannu along with a guest house in Maafannu district were searched following a report to Police Drug Intelligence.

In the operation carried out on 12 January 2021, suspected drugs were found in three plastic packets, six large rubber packets, 33 small rubber packets, one piece of foil, one piece of cellophane, ten empty film cannisters and an alcohol bottle along with a large sum of money.

Three men of the ages 33, 39 and 41 were arrested along with a 31-year-old woman, all locals, during he searches and an investigation is underway.

Criminal Court has remanded all four to 15 days to a location designated by the Home Ministry.
