Illegal drugs have been found inside the luggage of a n Indian national who arrived in the Maldives.

Maldives Customs Service said that the Indian national arrived in the Maldives via air on 23 December 2020. And the illegal drugs were found inside his luggage after a search due to suspicious behavior.

Customs Service said that initial testing of the suspected drugs has tested them positive for cannabis and hash oil.

The drugs weigh 36 grams and has a street value of about MVR 7,700 according to Customs.

The custody of the 27-year-old Indian man detained by the Customs, along with the drugs found in his luggage, have been transferred to the custody of the Maldives Police Service.
