MP of Fonadhoo and member leading registration efforts of PNC, Abdul Raheem Abdulla said that People's National Congress party (PNC) will run for all constituencies with the exception of a few. He said this regarding the upcoming election of the 19th Parliamentary body of Maldives.
MP Abdul Raheem made the announcement at a press briefing held by PNC. He said that the party will decide which constituencies to run for, as soon as the official registration of the party is complete.
As such, MP Abdul Raheem reported that the party is looking to run for nearly all the constituencies with the exception of a few. He expressed his confidence that members of the party will win by a large difference at the upcoming elections.
He said that initially, it was not in the party's plan to run for so many constituencies and that the change was brought due to requests by members to run for a Parliamentary seat.
He added that a lot of candidates received their ticket to run for Parliament initially under Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM). He reiterated that registering under PNC would mean the members have now lost their ticket to run for Parliament under PPM.
MP Abdul Raheem Abdulla claimed that current members of PPM are people that still support policies of former President Yameen. As such, he urged current PPM members to sign under PNC.
