A fishing boat illegally fishing inside the Maldivian economic borders have been taken into the custody of the MNDF Coast Guard vessel, Huravee.

MNDF said that the vessel was taken into custody a 140 nautical miles east of Kaafu Atoll Maafushi with the efforts that followed a report of a foreign fish boat fishing illegally made yesterday at 11:45 a.m.

And so, a special operation was launched during which the Dornier plane identified the vessel. When the Coast Guard vessel Huravee took custody of the vessel, it had six crewmen and the vessel is now traveling to Male’ City and is expected to be brought in this afternoon according to MNDF.

MNDF also thanked the fishermen for their support in such matters and thanked the captain and crew of the vessel “Asuruma-03” which identified the illegal fishing boat, for their support.
