Coast Guard advises not to travel on vulnerable vessels

Due to the severe weather in the Male' area, MNDF Coast Guard has advised the general public not to travel on vessels that are constant to strong weather and lacking safety gear.

The Coast Guard advises travelers and boast captains to acquire the latest weather reports when planning the journeys and check that the life jackets, communication devices and draining pumps are in working order. Meanwhile, cargo vessels are advised to carry max load within the regulations. Boat owners and captains are advised to ensure the vessels are secured when docked at the jetty it at the lagoon.

National Meteorological Service has issued a nation-wide Yellow Weather Alert warning of winds between 28 and 35 mph with gusts of 55 mph wind.

The Male'-Vilimale' ferry services were suspended last night as well.
