Narcotics worth MVR1.6 million have been confiscated from a Bangladeshi citizen entering the Maldives.
The Maldives Customs Service reported that the drugs were found last Monday on a 31-year old Bangladeshi citizen.
Customs further reiterated that the person was monitored and checked after suspicious activity and that the luggage contained vast amounts of narcotics. It was reported that the narcotics contained 2084 orange pills that tested positive for amphetamines.
Customs reported that the impounded narcotics weighed a total of 282 grams and was worth MVR 1.6 million. The perpetrator and the confiscated narcotics have both been handed over to Police custody.
