Preparations have begun for the Dhiraagu Maldives Road Race (DMRR), scheduled to take place at Hulhumalé Central Park on Friday, 20 November.

Dhiraagu announced that more than 5,600 runners from around the world have registered for the event, recognised as the Maldives’ largest running competition.

This year’s race has been officially recognised as a World Athletics Ranking Competition, allowing participants’ results to count towards international rankings. Dhiraagu said this recognition represents a significant milestone in the development of running in the Maldives.

The event will feature a half marathon, 10km and 5km races, alongside newly introduced team categories. It aims to encourage active lifestyles, promote fitness and provide an inclusive platform for runners of all abilities.

As preparations continue, Dhiraagu has encouraged participants to prioritise their health and fitness by joining training sessions organised by this year’s coaching partners, The Wellness Club, Island Runners Maldives and Marathon Runners Maldives.
