President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has declared Thursday, 12 November, a government holiday.

The decision means government employees will have an extended break next week, combining the Republic Day holiday on 11 November with the newly declared holiday.

The President’s Office said the decision was made to ensure government employees could enjoy consecutive holidays without an interruption between the two days.
