The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has reopened Hulhumalé’s Lakudi Jetty to the public after completing repairs to damage caused by a barge collision.

The jetty’s northern side sustained significant damage when a barge struck it while entering the Hulhumalé lagoon. The facility was temporarily closed on 26 May to ensure public safety.

HDC said the jetty was closed pending safety assessments and repair works. Following the completion of repairs, it has now been reopened.

The corporation said the work is part of its efforts to improve Hulhumalé’s infrastructure and ensure convenient access to public facilities.
