Former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has admitted that the money handed over to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) did not come from his account at the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).

Yameen made the confession after leaving the police headquarters tonight.

The former President said that the money deposited at the escrow account, under the contract with ACC, did not come from his MIB account.

He said that from the moment he found out there were suspicions about the money, it was placed at a separate account at MIB.
