Former President, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, has said that it was the former Vice President, Ahmed Adeeb, that informed him of a deposit to his account at the Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB) and at the time, he had not heard of SOF company.

Talking to the press outside the police headquarters, former President Yameen said that there was no reason for SOF to pay him any money and there is no way it was money that came from SOF.

Yameen said that Adeeb mentioned that he had deposited a million to the MIB account and a few days later, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) reached out and said there was money from SOF the said account. The former President said that he did not know SOF company at the time.

He said that it was not a cheque he received or deposited himself. And that Adeeb deposited USD 1 million from Yameen’s money with an SOF cheque.
