Former President Yameen Abdul Gayoom has been summoned to Police headquarters for a second time this week.
Spokesperson of Maldives Police Service informed that Yameen was summoned to Police headquarters today concerning an investigation. Police have however not revealed further information regarding the investigation.
This is the third time that President Yameen has been summoned to Police headquarters.
A statement released previously by MPS revealed that there are various on-going investigations concerning corruption and finances that allegedly took place during Yameen's administration. The statement noted that the cases were submitted by respective authorities.
Former President Yameen had been summoned to Police headquarters the past Sunday for questioning. The previous summons were made regarding an investigation into $1 million in funds transferred to Yameens' account at Maldives Islamic Bank (MIB).
