Health Protection Agency (HPA) has extended that negative PCR test validity time frame to four days for all arriving tourists.

Tourism Ministry announced the change through Twitter today. As per the previous regulations, all arriving tourists required a negative PCR test with 72 hours of validity.

"We are happy to announce that Maldives Health Protection Agency has extended negative PCR Test validity time of within 72 hours to within 96 hours prior to tourists departure to Maldives," the Tourism Ministry revealed on Twitter.

As per the HPA, even recovered patients require a negative PCR test to be allowed entry into the Maldives. However, such patients are not required to quarantine if they had come in direct contact with a patient before arrival, as well as after if symptoms are not present.

Immigration previously reported that the tests are not required for children below one year of age, travelers coming under work visa as well as flight crew.
