A decision has been made to collect samples to surveil the spread of COVID-19 in Addu City.

Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH) said that the sample collection would take place this Saturday and Sunday.

While PCR testing have begun at the AEH since mid-June, no surveillance samples were collected. So far, the hospital has been testing samples from people in Home Quarantine. AEH has tested over 1,200 samples so far.

Statistics from the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show that there are two COVID-19 patients in Addu City currently; one in local in Gan and a foreigner in Hulhudhoo.
