Twenty-nine of the 31 students admitted after food poisoning at Feydhoo School in Addu City have been discharged, with two students remaining in hospital for treatment.
The students, who are cadets, fell ill after attending a cadet camp and began receiving treatment yesterday. Twelve were admitted to Maradhoo Health Centre, 12 to Feydhoo Health Centre and seven to Addu Equatorial Hospital (AEH).
AEH Customer Relations Officer Abdulla Waheed told One today that only two students remain admitted at the hospital.
Police have collected samples to determine the cause of the suspected food poisoning, and testing is under way. Police said further details would be shared with the media.
The Human Rights Commission of the Maldives (HRCM) has called on relevant authorities to investigate the incident and take measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.
