Seven people have been arrested in a special operation by the Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service after a search conducted at a house n Male’ City.

Police said that a large quantity of illegal drugs and money were confiscated during the search on Monday following a report to police intelligence.

Seven men of the ages 19, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27 and 28 were arrested in the operation in the Henveiru district with a court order. Police seized 42 empty film canisters, 28 plastic packets, 216 cellophane pieces and small plastic bag of suspected drugs.

Police also seized a hand-rolled tobacco cigarette, an alcohol bottle and 225 pills of ED prescription medication along with MVR 17,150 in cash.
