Three houses have been searched in Male’ City and two people have been arrested with 3.301 kilograms of illegal drugs and MVR 57,550.

Maldives Police Service said that the two people were arrested in a special operation by the Drug Enforcement Department of the Police after a house in Galolhu and two houses in Maafannu district were searched with a court order.

And so, following the information received to drug intelligence at 6:15 p.m. yesterday, two 26-year-old men were arrested.

Police said that 84 empty film canisters containing suspected drugs were found at one of the houses searched in Maafannu along with plastic packets and MVR 2,750. And, MVR 54,800 was found at the other house searched in Maafannu.

And the police found three canisters of film canisters of suspected drugs and two plastic packets at the house searched in Galolhu.

The total weight of the drugs found in the operation is 3.301 kilograms, according to the police.

The case is being investigated further by the Drug Enforcement Department of the Maldives Police Service.
