Maldives Police Service has said that no arrests have been made regarding the rape and pregnancy of a 17-year-old and another pregnancy of another minor.
Media Official of the Police has confirmed this to One Online today and refuted the allegations that a person was released after an arrest regarding one of these cases.
Earlier this week, police has said that both pregnancy of the minors are being investigated as rape cases. And both cases emerged from the central atolls.
The pregnancy of the 17-year-old was reported on Tuesday from a medical facility at an island in the jurisdiction of the Central Police Division. And the police have said that the case is being investigated by the Crimes Against Children Department and the Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services as a rape case.
The other case was reported to the police by the Gender Ministry and the case is being investigated by both institutions.
The two cases have been reported to the police at a time of a high number of child sexual assault is being reported in the country. And the NGO named Voice of Children have raised their voice saying that the victims of such cases does not get justice and had a rally in the capital, Male’ City.
