Managing Director of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC), Adam Azim has said that the salary of employees earning over MVR 15,000 are going to get a salary reduction.
He made the statement on Raajje TV’s “Falasurukhee” program last night.
Azim said that the salary of the management staff has already been reduced amid the COVID-19 pandemic and although an employee salary is going to see a change, those earning under MVR 15,000 would see no change.
He said that the currently changes have been brought to the salary of the Managing Director and the Deputy Managing Director; which is a 30 percent reduction, along with a decision not to collect the allowance for the Board of Directors.
Recently, the Ministry of Finance and Treasury had established a structure to reduce the salary of employees in state-owned companies who are earning more than MVR 15,000. And some companies, including private companies, have reduced salaries to minimize the economic impact of COVID-19.
