Equatorial Hospital in Addu City has announced that PCR testing for COVID-19 testing is now available in the city.
The Twitter account of the hospital announced this morning that the testing kits have arrived at the hospital. This is the first time COVID-19 testing have been arranged in the Maldives outside of the Maldivian capital.
A 65-year-old woman who traveled from Male’ City to Addu City was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on this past Friday.
The government has said that they are working to establish COVID-19 testing facilities in five areas of the country. It was initially announced that gene expert machines are to be used in the atolls, however, the plans were changed to install PCR machines, same as the capital Male’ City.
