Maldives Police Service has said that 151 people were fined yesterday for violating the lock down orders in effect amid the COVID-19 epidemic in the country.

Police said that aside from the 151 fines, four people were taken into their custody as well for disobeying their orders. So far, 197 people have been taken into police custody for disobeying the orders of the lock down.

Following the Male’ Area lock down amid the pandemic, police have taken a number of measures to ensure public safety and set some regulations in going out for essentials.
