The number of nurses in quarantine in the Maldives have now reached 21.
Speaking at the NEOC press conference, Spokesperson Mohamed Mabrook Abdul Aziz said that if a person working in the health sector is suspected of the illness, they are quarantined and they will not be on duty.
He said that there are 21 nurses in quarantined awaiting their test results and will remain there until it is confirmed that they tested negative for COVID-19.
A number of people working on the front lines have tested positive for COVID-19 including police officers and military personnel.
To prevent a possible spread through front line workers, the government has arranged special means including separate accommodations for front line works
So far, 862 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the Maldives and 31 people have made a recovery. However, two locals and a Bangladeshi national have passed away due to complications with the illness.
