Maldives have reported two additional COVID-19 recoveries.

Speaking at the National Emergency Operations (NEOC) press conference, Spokesperson Mabrook said that 20 people have recovered from COVID-19 in the Maldives so far.

He said that the two most recent recoveries are Case no. 20, a Maldivian national who returned from Philippines and Case no. 27, a person who tested in Male’ City.

Today, 22 people have tested positive raising the total number of COVID-19 cases in the country to 273 while the country saw the second death related to the illness.

The deceased in a Bangladeshi national who was taken to Dharumavantha Hospital after the patient’s condition got poor. However, the treatment team said that they do not believe the death was connected to COVID-19.

At the NEOC press conference, Dr. Mohamed Faishan said that the 33-year-old Bangladeshi national had bleeding on the brain which caused a seizure as well. Dr. Faishan said that COVID-19 has affected the brain and the veins in the past but that is mostly caused by a block in one of the blood vessels.

The first dead connected to COVID-19 in the Maldives was an 83-year-old woman who was confirmed for the illness after her death.
