Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ismail Naveen, has said that 18 housings where over 800 expatriates were living in has been brought under the custody of the Maldives Police Service.
Speaking during a press conference on Sunday, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ismail Naveen said that the decision was taken after considering how the virus has been spreading in the capital city.
He revealed that 837 expatriates are currently residing in these 18 places and that Police is currently maintaining them.
While 177 people have been confirmed of COVID-19 in the Maldives, the majority of them are expatriates. Most of them are ones living in the same crowded accommodations.
