The national airline, Maldivian, has operated a flight to Bangkok, Thailand, which has returned with 12 tons of cargo.
The airline said that flight returned with 11,323.3 kilograms (12.5 tons) of cargo last night.
Maldives has closed down its borders amid the COVID-19 pandemic and most of the countries where the Maldives imports goods from are currently on lock-down as well. And so, there have been difficulties in importing cargo.
To assist with the import difficulties, the national airline, Maldivian, decided to operate chartered cargo flights. The airline has previously brought 10 tons of cargo from Thailand while charter flights have traveled to Chennai and Travandrum in Indian and Dubai.
