Malaysia has reported a total of 190 new Covid-19 cases today, marking the highest number of single day cases to be reported.
According to Malaysian authorities, with the 190 new cases the total number of cases have spiked to a whopping 428 in Malaysia. Even though 41 have recovered so far, the number of positive cases are expected to rise drastically in the coming week.
The new rise in confirmed cases are from the Sri Petaling cluster, where 16,000 people had gathered for a religious event. The government is working to identify those who were present at the event and to test those with suspicious symptoms.
While the Coronavirus continues it's spread, several Malaysian universities have closed down and switched to e-learning. As such, Taylor's University has also given their spring break early and will be starting online classes on March 30th.
A Maldivian student who attends Taylor's University revealed to "One" that they are currently on semester break, but will resume classes on March 30th. The online classes are going to be conducted up till April 19th, after which an extension may be given depending on the situation.
In addition to Taylor's, UOW Malaysia KDU, APU, APIIT along with Universiti Malaya and several other public universities have also suspended their classes. There are several Maldivian students who attend these universities.
