Maldives Police Service has said that a 35-year-old man was arrested last night with a court order for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl over a number of days.

The case was reported from an island in the jurisdiction of the North Police Division on 10 January 2020. And so, an arrest has been made in the case 25 days later.

Since the Police Media Official was unreachable last night, it is unclear whether the victim was removed from the reach of the culprit and provided protect during the course of the investigation or why an arrest took so long.
